"History of Women in American" with Amy Colon

Learn about the forgotten women in American history, Deborah Sampson, Mercy Otis Warren, Harriet Jacobs and a few others presented by SUNY Sullivan History Professor, Amy Colon. Amy Colon has been teaching at SUNY Sullivan since the fall semester of 2006. After graduating with a BA in history from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY she received a full teacher's assistant scholarship from the University of Rhode Island where she earned an MA in history. After completing several courses in a Ph.D. history program at Northern Arizona University in 1998, Amy was hired in a tenure-track history instructor position at Palo Verde Community College in Blythe, CA where she taught for 8 years. In 2005, Amy and her husband, Joe, decided to move back east to be closer to family. That decision led them to Sullivan County and SUNY Sullivan. In addition to teaching, Amy also served as a Reader at the US History AP Exam Readings for 14 consecutive years. For the past 5 years she served as a Table Leader training other Readers to understand the College Board Essay Rubric. Amy and Joe have been married 21 years and have a son, Julius, who is a 2019 Tri-Valley High School graduate and a sophomore at Ithaca College. This is a FREE event, but registration is required. Attend in person (50 max) or via zoom!
